چکیده

Garlic (Allium sativum L.) is one of the oldest cultivated plants in world and belongs to family Amaryllidaceae. Purple blotch caused by Alternaria porri (Ellis) Ciferri such disease which causes a great deal loss for farmers. The best method manage purple adopt resistant genotypes cultivation, highly necessary areas with high incidence. In order identify sources, 37 were field screened under artificial epiphytotic conditions at AINRPOG (All India Network Research Project on Onion Garlic), MARS (Main Agricultural Station), Dharwad during Rabi, 2019 2020. Results from two years showed that no genotype was immune blotch. Among tested, five viz., G50, Bhima Purple, DOGR426, DOGR543 DOGR569 infection (1-10%), 17 moderately (11-20%), while 4 susceptible (21-40%). On scale 0 5, only (HRG Local) (41-75%) reaction. remaining genotypes, reactions differed between years. are can be utilized breeders produce yielding varieties.

Identification of Novel Source of Resistance and Differential Response of Allium Genotypes to Purple Blotch Pathogen, Alternaria porri (Ellis) Ciferri

Purple blotch, caused by Alternaria porri (Ellis) Cifferi, is a serious disease incurring heavy yield losses in the bulb and seed crop of onion and garlic worldwide. There is an immediate need for identification of effective resistance sources for use in host resistance breeding. A total of 43 Allium genotypes were screened for purple blotch resistance under field conditions. Allium cepa access...
